What is orthodontics?

Definition ~

a dentistry specialty that addresses the diagnosis, prevention, management, and correction of mal-positioned teeth and jaws

Orthodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry that focuses on diagnosing, preventing, and treating irregularities in the alignment and positioning of the teeth and jaws. Using various techniques such as braces, clear aligners, and other dental appliances, orthodontists work to improve the aesthetics and functionality of the teeth and jaws, aiming to create a balanced bite and a harmonious smile. By carefully evaluating each patient's unique dental and facial structure, orthodontic treatment seeks to correct issues such as crooked teeth, overcrowding, overbites, underbites, and other dental irregularities, ultimately enhancing oral health and overall well-being.

Invisalign is a brand of clear aligners that are used as an alternative to traditional metal braces for orthodontic treatment. It is a popular and widely recognized method for straightening teeth and correcting dental misalignments.
Unlike traditional braces, which use metal brackets and wires to apply pressure and move teeth into position, Invisalign utilizes a series of clear, custom-made plastic aligners. These aligners are virtually invisible when worn on the teeth, hence the name "Invisalign."

How much does it cost?

As with other treatments, orthodontic work is tailored to each individual. The price may vary from person to person depending on many factors.

Generally orthodontic work within the NHS for persons under the age of 18, providing they meet the requirements, is free and can be referred by your general dentist.

If you dont meet the NHS requirements then private treatment is always an option. Invisalign is always a private treatment and you can book an orthodontic consultation with a member of our team.

Consultations are free for registered patients (NHS or Private) and a nominal £35 fee for unregistered patients (this is taken off the balance of treatment should you decide to go ahead).

Prices for invisalign generally range from £3000 for both arches.

Our expertly trained clinicians can give you a broader breakdown of treatment and more accurate price quote.
